XMUN 2026

I once gave a speech about how when you want something, and you want it enough, you will achieve it. And although it is impossible to define myself in one line, if I had to, this would be it. If being determined, goal-oriented, constantly working and somehow always having pending work could be a person— that would be me. Behind my ambition however, lies an organised mess of iced coffee, pink stationery and vanilla scented perfume.

It takes ambition, grit, and dedication to define yourself as the person you want to be. However, what values define one as a person, and what is seen on the exterior are frequently polar opposites. The ambition for me is picking out clothes I’ll probably never wear, with the grit being unable to sleep until 3:23 AM, and the dedication being waking up the next morning in time for chai. I’m analytical and self-aware, unequivocally coming up with a solution, yet unforgettably lightening the mood through dark jokes. Again… polar opposites.

Most people who know me would probably describe me as ambitious. They are not wrong, although I would like to think there’s a little more to it than that. I have never been particularly good at doing things halfway. Whatever new challenge catches my attention, I tend to throw myself into it completely. For a long time, I thought confidence came from having everything figured out. It turns out it comes from being willing to try anyway. Curiosity is what drives me. It’s the reason I say yes to opportunities, enjoy meeting new people, and am always looking for something new to learn, see, or experience. Looking back, some of my best experiences have come from saying yes before I was entirely ready. I have learned that the most rewarding things rarely happen inside your comfort zone.

Who am I? I am an observer, someone who notices what others might miss. I love communicating, especially through public speaking, and interacting with people. I am passionate about my goals. My philosophy: go big or go home. Who do I want to be? I want to be many things, but more than anything, I want to be kind. My ambitions however, are deeper. I like to delve in, to really understand rather than just skim the surface. I want everyone around me to feel like they belong, and never feel like an outsider, and I hope I can achieve that.

I asked my friends to describe me in one word. A good 70% of them said creative. A surprising amount of them said whimsical. I also got “kind”, “abstract”, “the coolest”, “gregarious”, and words that don’t even exist. Even “eccentric” (in a VERY good way). So make of all that what you will. But why did I ask my friends to describe me when I could write a whole paragraph saying wonderful and totally honest things about myself? Because I feel that who I am is shaped by the people around me, and I wanted my paragraph to reflect that. And in many ways, that’s also what XMUN represents to me. Because it isn’t just a preparation for politics or debate, it’s a preparation for the real world; a place where you will meet all kinds of like minded people, learn from them, and make alliances for life. And XMUN is nothing without the community. I hope this year I can work towards making that community a harmonious and beautiful one.

I have always been fascinated by the idea that every great outcome is built on systems nobody notices. While most people see the final product, I find myself drawn to everything happening behind the scenes—the design choices, the technology, and the countless details that hold it all together. I enjoy creating, improving, and occasionally rescuing projects from last-minute disasters. Between design, code, and a growing obsession with AI, I’m constantly searching for better ways to turn ideas into reality. If curiosity and overthinking had a productive outcome, it would probably look a lot like my work.

I am someone who likes having things to look forward to. I enjoy being busy, learning something new, and having new experiences, and I don’t tend to stay satisfied with the same thing for very long. I am competitive when I care about something, but I don’t take myself too seriously either. When I do find something that matters to me, though, I tend to get pretty invested, and doing it halfway has never really been an option. I don’t have a perfect idea of where I’ll end up, and I think that’s part of what makes things interesting. For now, I am happy chasing whatever feels worth my time and seeing where it takes me.

I begin each day without a clear plan — no elaborate to-do lists or time-bound tasks. Instead, I prefer to live in the moment and push myself to do a little better than I did the day before. I strive to give my best shot at whatever it is I do, and have found that tackling the things I dread most gives me an invaluable reward—the immediate satisfaction of realising I can handle difficult tasks and that I am stronger than my fears. Life looks a little different every day, and there is always something exciting to look forward to.

If there’s one thing I have mastered, it’s convincing myself that I work best under pressure and then accidentally proving it right. My life is a carefully balanced mix of colour-coded plans, to-do lists, and an unhealthy number of open tabs. MUNs and student leadership have been a constant throughout my school journey, not because they look impressive on paper, but because they have consistently been among the experiences I find most fulfilling. Years of debating, and participating in conferences have taught me many things, though effective time management remains an ongoing diplomatic dispute. Yet, I still insist on adding “just one more thing” to my schedule. Somewhere between committee sessions, spreadsheets, and cups of strong coffee, I have realised that I genuinely love bringing people and ideas together, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
